Amadeus Travel Ready Eases Passport Verification for Air Europa Passengers

Air Europa is deploying Amadeus Travel Ready by Traveller ID, a full suite of innovative products that makes travel easier by automating and digitising the document verification process.

Following the findings of the IATA Global Passenger Survey, which showed that 75% of respondents preferred the use of biometric data over passports and boarding passes and that certain procedures should be streamlined outside of airports, with immigration and check-in being the top priorities, the decision was taken to enhance the digital experience for travellers.

Thanks to this technology, travellers may check if specific documents comply with the requirements before leaving for the airport.

Air Europa International Travellers can now use this new service when checking in online via any of their preferred digital channels.

When a passport is verified, passenger status will automatically be updated to ‘Skycleared’ within the airline system, which expedites the manual document verification process during check-in, bag drop, and boarding and, as a result, shortens queues.

In the future, Amadeus Travel Ready will enable travellers on Air Europa to verify other papers, like visas, and make biometric identification procedures at the airport easier by using the travellers' cell phones.

The system can match biometric facial data used for identification at the different airline touchpoints with key travel credentials.

Estelle Leray, the alliances director and head of customer experience at Air Europa, said: “We are very excited with this new solution as it aligns perfectly with our innovation strategy.

“We want to deliver the experience our customers anticipate: an easy and smooth journey.

“We are looking for the development of biometrics enrollment capabilities that will truly enhance the experience for both our customers and agents.”

Amadeus Travel Ready is aligned with the IATA One ID initiative, which encourages information sharing in advance, contactless technology, and biometric choices to significantly expedite passenger travel.

Francois Blanc, the managing director of Traveller ID, Amadeus, said: “The digital verification of travel documents is accelerating, and Amadeus Travel Ready allows carriers to offer an enhanced experience for passengers.

“This is just one example of how Amadeus is able to support the travel industry with innovative, traveller-centric initiatives, utilizing digital identities.”
