Abu Dhabi Airports Makes Incredible Comeback in Q1
The operator of five airports in the Emirate, Abu Dhabi Airports saw over 35 per cent increase in passenger traffic in the first three months of this year, to 6.9 million, from 5.1 million in the same period in 2023.
The first quarter of 2024 saw a healthy upsurge in flight movements, with 61,737 movements recorded, indicating an 11.4% rise compared to the same time in 2023. This growth was driven by the strong global demand for passenger and commercial services.
Over 6.8 million people arrived at Zayed International Airport (AUH) alone during this time. There were notable increases of 26.6% in traffic movements and 36% in passenger traffic at the recently opened terminal.
With the reopening of Turkmenistan Airlines and the introduction of Hainan Airlines, which will operate in Haikou, China, in the first quarter of this year, AUH's airline database now contains 29 regular scheduled airlines.
