SAS Resumes Manchester-Bergen Flights
SAS, a Scandinavian Airline and the flag carrier of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, is planning to reinstate twice-weekly flights between Manchester and Bergen.
SAS stands for the abbreviation of Scandinavian Airlines System which is the full name of the company. This flag carrier will be restarting its weekly flight services between Manchester and Bergen Mondays and Fridays this September.
This route will be one of the ten additional European services launched for the summer and autumn and it will serve as a gateway to Norwegian Fjords. The frequency of flights will also be increased from Denmark, Norway and Sweden to some major Mediterranean destinations.
Erik Westman, the Network and revenue management executive vice president at SAS, said “We are delighted to welcome our passengers back and seeing the desire to travel continuing to rise.
“SAS is increasing capacity this summer, adding more routes and additional flights to popular destinations.
“We are also glad to return to beautiful Tokyo with three weekly flights in June and to launch our new routes to Newark.”
Bergen is home to the Bryggen Harbour District a UNESCO World Heritage Site which makes it one of the oldest port cities in Europe. This fact almost guarantees an increase in tourism in the Norwegian city.
Flights to Bergen have been constant from the UK, and by the end of March, Wideroe will also be launching twice-weekly Stansted flights to the Norwegian city. By the spring of 2024, Jet2.com and Jet2CityBreaks are planning to offer services to the city of Bergen.
