Qatar to Open 5 Key Tourism Developments Before World Cup

Before November brings in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, five new tourism developments have been chosen to be inaugurated to bring more variety to this sector. These attractions, from Winter Wonderland to water sports paradise, will be adding a unique mix to the peninsula’s collection of attractions and recreations.

The five tourism developments include the Doha Winter Wonderland, Fuwairit Kite Beach, The Outpost Al Barari, Qetaifan Island North, and West Bay North Beach Project.

The Doha Winter Wonderland, featuring seafront chalets, restaurants, games, 50 rides and cafés, is a festive sister event to the one in London’s Hyde Park and is set to be launched on a sandy island in Qatar later this year.

This “entertainment island” will be close to the Lusail Stadium, which will be hosting the World Cup final. This 2,00,000 sq m attraction will be situated near Lusail City just north of Qatar’s capital and operated by the same company that operates the one in London, IMG.

July 12, 2021, was the date Qatar re-opened its borders to the world. And now after a year, Qatar Tourism has now revealed its extensive tourism development strategy. They are planning to capitalize on the millions of tourists who will be visiting the Middle Eastern country for the FIFA World Cup 2022 and showcase what they have to offer.

Berthold Trenkel, the chief operating officer of Qatar Tourism, stated: “The countdown to the World Cup is well underway and there are lots of world-class attractions to come before the matches begin.

“Amongst the buzz around the tournament itself, we hope people are wowed by Qatar’s state-of-the-art new tourism developments, significantly boosting the country’s appeal as a leading holiday destination. There are new beaches for those looking for sun, sea and sand, theme parks and water sports hotels for the adventurous and lots of new resorts, spas and restaurants for visitors seeking a more relaxing getaway.”
