How Tourism Industry Is Adjusting to Make Travel Safe

COVID-19 is the most buzzed word nowadays. It has moved badly almost every business sector, especially the travel industry and has torn down our sense of travel safety. But it is time to restart tourism by adopting new policies and make essential actions, where safety is the highest priority. Travel companies around the world are doing their best to enact policies, plans, and new measures to keep and make feel everyone safe. Check out the following ways in which the travel industry is changing to ensure the safety of all.

Airlines are Requiring Flyers to Wear Masks

Many airlines, like United, Emirates, and Delta, have implemented new rules such as requiring all flyers to wear masks. Some airlines are even imposing strict penalties for those who don't follow the rule, such as removals and fly bans.

UV Sanitation

The travel industry is using ultraviolet light in various sectors from subways and buses in New York City to ITC Hotels. Ultraviolet lamps are effective in killing COVID-19 and other viruses like SARS, influenza, and Ebola. In fact, we may see them used in airports very soon.

Tour Operators Implement New Hygiene Measures

Recently, the World Travel & Tourism Council has unveiled new health and safety guidelines for their tour operator members.

There, tour operators are implementing new protocols by taking proper hygiene measures and minimizing physical contact to keep staffs and travellers safe. Some are giving importance to contactless payment, while others are Selected disinfecting products approved by health authorities.

New Airport Rules

Some countries are implementing new rules to prevent the spread of COVID-19 at airports. For example, travellers will no longer hand boarding passes to the security officer, but hold it up for inspection. Food should now be placed in clear plastic bags and into their own bins. Most of the airports now have thermal scanners which would verify a traveller's temperature.

Required COVID-19 Testing

Many airline companies are requiring all incoming passengers to take a COVID-19 test. Emirates Airlines was the first airline to conduct coronavirus testing on passengers. Etihad has introduced COVID-19 risk assessment tool at the airport for passengers.

Besides, almost everyone in the travel industry will be doing temperature checks on their employees. Some are taking this further and requiring their staff to be regularly tested for COVID-19.

The travel industry has started making many more changes in order to accelerate the sector’s gradual recovery.
