Bristol among first destinations from Eurowings new Prague hub

Lufthansa Group leisure carrier Eurowings is going to establish a hub in Prague, with the first flights to Bristol and Fuerteventura on October 31.

The new hub in the Czech Republic will initially offer 14 flights, with the Canary Islands and southern Spain the top winter destinations. Other points on the network include Athens, Barcelona and Copenhagen.

Eurowings claims to be the first airline to return to radio and television advertising in the Czech Republic since the start of the pandemic with a €1 million campaign.

A dedicated Czech language website will shortly open for bookings with fares starting at €29.99 one-way.

Chief executive Jens Bischof said: “We are very pleased that our new offers have been so well received from day one.

“This boosts our confidence that we have exactly made the right choice with launching our operations from such a highly attractive city like Prague.”

The carrier is offering empty middle seats on its aircraft.

“Customers across Europe appreciate having a little more breathing room at their seat, whether for reasons of comfort or hygiene,” said Bischof.

“The empty middle seat brings a feeling of business class even to back rows and has already been booked by Czech customers several hundred times just in the last few weeks.”
